Job summary

Kirklees Council is seeking a Catering Assistant to operate our evening catering service in Huddersfield. You will ensure that food and drinks are well stocked and presented, as well as serve customers in the coffee shop.

The ideal candidate will have a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate and experience in a catering environment. Benefits include staff development opportunities and various discounts, contributing to a positive work environment.

Qualifications

• Current Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate desirable.
• Previous experience in a catering environment in a customer-focused role desirable.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Job Title: Catering Assistant - Evenings

Salary: Pro rata £3,603.30 (FTE £25,878)

Location: Huddersfield

Hours: 6 hours/38 weeks (two early evenings per week, 4:15pm - 7:15pm)

Responsibilities:

• Operate evening catering service in the coffee shop.
• Ensure displays of food and drinks are kept well stocked and presentable.
• Operate coffee machine and serve light hot and cold snacks, wrapped sandwiches, chilled drinks and confectionery.
• Handle cash and operate a till.
• Cash up at shift close and ensure the coffee shop is left clean, stocked and ready for the next morning’s service.

Qualifications:

• Current Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate desirable.
• Previous experience in a catering environment in a customer-focused role desirable.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
• Enhanced DBS mandatory for all employees at the college.
