Job summary

Nescot in Epsom, United Kingdom, is seeking a Catering Assistant to support practical classes and restaurant service within the college kitchen and dining facilities.

The role is part-time, four days per week, term-time only at 36 weeks per year, with occasional evening sessions and events between 8am–8pm. You will handle deliveries, stock, and maintain high hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a catering, hospitality or kitchen environment.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and health & safety.
• Ability to organise workloads and work independently.
• High standards with keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, resources and equipment for practical classes and demonstrations.
• Support teaching staff during practical lessons and restaurant service.
• Manage deliveries, stock control and store food and consumables.
• Maintain professional kitchen and restaurant facilities.
• Promote high standards of food hygiene and health & safety.
• Support learners in developing professional behaviours and industry expectations.
• Assist with events, open evenings and curriculum activities.

Catering Assistant

Your work pattern will be 4 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) but you must be available for occasional flexibility to cover evening restaurant sessions and events between 8am-8pm. This is a term time only position working 36 weeks per year.

• Experience working in a professional catering, hospitality or commercial kitchen environment.
• Understands food safety, hygiene and health & safety requirements.

• Has good communication skills and enjoys working with people.
• Confident using basic IT systems and digital record-keeping tools.
• Level 2 Food Safety qualification.
