Job summary

Practice Plus Group Hospital in Barlborough is seeking a Catering Assistant to deliver high-quality meals and service to patients. You’ll join a supportive catering team, handling meal orders, dietary requests, and ensuring meals are prepared, plated, and served to a high standard in line with hospital policies.

The role is patient-facing, involves maintaining hygiene standards, and requires working 2 days out of 7.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Enjoys providing great customer service and working with people.
• Works well in a team and is happy to support where needed.
• Knowledge of food preparation, menus and presentation.
• Able to manage time effectively in a busy environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willing to work towards a Basic Food Hygiene certificate if needed.
• Previous catering or hospitality experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals and drinks to patients and take meal orders.
• Monitor and record patients' nutritional intake and escalate concerns.
• Address dietary requests and report feedback to the catering team.
• Prepare and regenerate meals, sauces, and beverages.
• Plate and serve hot and cold food items while maintaining presentation.
• Record food and equipment temperatures.
• Refill patients' water jugs and ensure hydration throughout their stay.

What you'll be doing

You'll play an important role in creating a positive experience for our patients by helping to deliver high-quality meals and excellent service throughout their stay.

Working as part of our catering team, you'll support all aspects of food and beverage service, ensuring meals are prepared, served and presented to a high standard while following hospital policies and procedures.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Serving meals and drinks to patients and taking meal orders
• Monitoring and recording patients' nutritional intake, escalating any concerns to clinical staff
• Responding to dietary requests and reporting issues or patient feedback to the catering team
• Preparing and regenerating chilled and frozen meals, sauces, and beverages
• Plating and serving hot and cold food items
• Recording food and equipment temperatures
• Refilling patients' water jugs and beakers, ensuring they remain hydrated throughout their stay

This is a varied, patient-facing role where you'll help ensure every patient receives a safe, enjoyable dining experience.

• Has previous experience in a similar catering or hospitality role
