Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking a Chef for Emersons Green, Bristol. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with a 2-week fixed rota and an average of 7.5 hours per day, no late evenings.

You will prepare nutritious meals for patients, staff and visitors, contribute to menu development, supervise kitchen staff, and ensure hygiene and safety standards are met in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Catering or equivalent.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Previous practical catering experience.
  • Experience of menu development and catering for special dietary requirements.
  • Good stock control and ordering knowledge.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work using your own initiative.
  • Flexible, friendly, and professional approach.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and produce high-quality meals for patients, staff and visitors.
  • Assist with menu planning and development of creative, nutritious menus.
  • Support the management and supervision of kitchen staff.
  • Ensure all food hygiene, health & safety, COSHH, and infection control standards are maintained.
  • Cater for a range of dietary and nutritional requirements.
  • Monitor stock levels, control food wastage, and support ordering processes.
  • Maintain excellent food presentation and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership and operational support in the absence of the Head Chef.

Education

NVQ Level 2 in Catering
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate

What we’ll look for in you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Catering, City & Guilds 204/205/206, or equivalent.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Previous practical catering experience.
  • Experience of menu development and catering for special dietary requirements.Good stock control and ordering knowledge.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work using your own initiative.
  • A flexible, friendly, and professional approach.
Desirable
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience working within a healthcare or hospital environment.
