Role Description: Category Trading Manager- Maternity Cover

Reports to: Vice President Trading
The role and your responsibilities:
The Trading Manager will be directly responsible for:
- Maximising department/category performance, including category planning, promotions & pricing and seasonal strategies, and responsible for delivering against category KPIs.
- Developing the junior team and collaborating with other Trading Managers to build the organisation and deliver against objectives.
Reporting & performance of your business area:
- You will own the reporting of your category in daily/weekly reporting, at category and partner/brand level, to help identify ways to drive GMV.
- You will be responsible for the planning, pricing and promotional strategies of your category/departments and sellers/brands, ensuring seasonal relevance, newness and credibility of your product areas.
- You will create clear and deliverable detailed category financial plans built from department up, that deliver the business goals of the business, through effective timing of product initiatives and incorporating business growth opportunities.
- You will be responsible for category performance of connected inventory, developing and revising department/category plans to align with the company trading plans, as well as planning on new inventory requirements to optimise business performance as opportunities arise.
- You will work with the Head of Trading & Commercial Planning Manager to support the Trading Calendar and ensure execution of category strategy through the year.
- You will monitor and analyse department/category/brand(seller) trends and initiatives to understand business impact and identify opportunities and mitigate risks, taking necessary action to deliver to and exceed financial objectives and core KPIs.
- You will maximise current stock and option mix to present and drive performance with clear action plans, through effective collaboration with:
The marketing team, defining campaigns in order to ensure all channels are optimised, driving traffic and conversion.
The VM/merchandising team, ensuring ‘site presentation’ is optimised and drives conversion. Flag up additional requirements for new launches.
The Partnership Management Team to drive seller/brand performance by highlighting stock shortfalls and opportunities, identifying promotional & pricing opportunities and enabling timely negotiations.
- You will highlight to the Head of Trading, opportunities in new seller/brands to drive department/category performance.
- You will work alongside the Business Development Team with onboarding new brands and ensure strong launch plans.
- You will keep yourself fully updated with competitor’s activity, value proposition and highlight any risk to business performance.
