Job description

Job Title: Buyer

We are recruiting a buyer to work for a long-standing company based in Tipton. The buyer's role and responsibilities will involve sourcing and buying materials or products needed to produce goods. The Buyer will ensure that materials are purchased at a reasonable cost, within budget, and delivered on time for production. You will also monitor supplier performance and quality, ensuring that the goods meet the required specifications.

Main Duties:

1. Outsourcing engineering services.
2. Ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of goods.
3. Maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers.
4. Analyzing market trends to determine the most competitive prices.
5. Liaising with suppliers and negotiating contracts while maintaining good relationships to secure favourable pricing.
6. Negotiating with suppliers to secure better prices and terms.
7. Developing and implementing procurement strategies.
8. Managing inventory levels and ensuring adequate stock levels.
9. Coordinating with other departments to ensure timely delivery of goods.
10. Updating and maintaining purchasing records and data.
11. Ensuring compliance with procurement policies and regulations.

Ideal Candidate Skills:

• Experience working within the commercial engineering sector.
• A good understanding of Purchasing.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Buying and negotiating skills.
• Previous experience with ERP/MRP systems is advantageous.
• Strong purchasing/buying experience, preferably with an engineering background.
