Job summary

Fortegra Europe Insurance Company Ltd is seeking a professional contributor in catastrophe risk management to support data gathering, data quality checks, and analyses under supervision.

The role involves working with underwriters, conducting exposure assessments, and using vendor catastrophe modeling tools to estimate risk and inform reinsurance decisions, with opportunities to grow in risk management and (re)insurance knowledge.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience with commercial catastrophe model Verisk; familiarity with RMS or KatRisk is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, economics, engineering, or related natural science.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL; Python or R and Alteryx are beneficial.
• Some knowledge of data warehousing (e.g., Snowflake) and GIS is advantageous.
• Fundamental knowledge in (re)insurance industry.

Responsibilities

• Work with underwriters to gather and prepare quarterly portfolio rolls for catastrophe modeling.
• Assess data quality to ensure data fit for purpose in analyses.
• Analyze exposure changes and discuss loss distribution results with underwriting and senior management.
• Perform loss and accumulation analyses using catastrophe modeling software and transform outputs for reporting.
• Evaluate how risk measures affect reinsurance alternatives and provide price indications.
• Collaborate with junior members in data preparation and interpreting insurance terms for catastrophe models.
• Utilize spatial visualization tools to monitor aggregations and profitability aligned with underwriting objectives.
• Prepare and format summaries and reports on potential risk and loss results for stakeholders.
• Strengthen relationships with internal and external partners and support tool development and delivery.
