At the heart of our success is a strong culture where people are encouraged to be present, bold, and curious, enabling them to achieve their individual goals.

We are currently seeking a Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join us full-time at our London office, reporting to the Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst.

You will provide exposure and catastrophe analytical support to both the Exposure Management and Underwriting teams to ensure high-quality catastrophe management information that assists insurance underwriting decisions. The role involves input, assessment, and reporting of exposure management data, including regular and ad-hoc response reporting to the London Syndicate and our global distribution partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and manipulate large and complex datasets, utilizing accumulation and catastrophe models to understand potential catastrophe and accumulation risks for the Syndicate.
  • Synthesize, present, and explain catastrophe model results to underwriting teams, investigating year-on-year changes and underlying factors.
  • Operate catastrophe modeling software, including querying exposure and result databases via SQL.
  • Contribute to improving exposure management practices, including automating processes where possible.
  • Develop innovative analytical solutions to assist underwriting teams in quantifying catastrophe risk.
  • Assess and monitor the full lifecycle of exposures from data receipt to reporting.
  • Support post-event analytics and loss estimation for natural and non-natural global events.
  • Assist in the validation of third-party catastrophe models.
  • Support Senior Catastrophe Risk Analysts, the Catastrophe Risk Manager, and Head of Exposure Management.
  • Promote good conduct to deliver optimal outcomes for customers and policyholders.
  • Understand escalation procedures and responsibilities related to conduct risk at various organizational levels.

Knowledge and Skills

This role is designed for an entry-level professional, ideally with an interest in Geography.

  • Interest in natural and/or man-made catastrophes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpreting complex datasets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to process data quickly and creatively.
  • Degree in a numerate or hazard-related subject (e.g., Maths, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Seismology, Atmospheric Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences) or relevant industry experience.
  • Motivation to develop a career in exposure management and insurance, with a willingness to obtain professional qualifications such as ACII.

  • Support for Study and Professional Development
