Job summary

Ivy House School in Derby, Derbyshire is seeking a Casual Teaching Assistant to join the team on a casual basis. The successful candidate will support teachers and pupils, including those with SEND, to enable personalised learning pathways.

You will work under direct supervision in classrooms or related spaces, assisting with welfare and basic first aid, and helping create a supportive learning environment across our special school community.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or demonstration of knowledge and skill or experience.
• First aid training, medical support and welfare matters.
• Good understanding of areas of learning for students with SEND (Literacy, Numeracy, Science).
• Experience of supporting children's learning in a school or similar setting.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct instruction of teaching staff.
• Provide specific support to the teacher in the care of pupils and classroom management.
• Work may be in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.
