Job summary

Leisure & Culture Dundee is seeking a Casual Swim Teacher to work across Grove Swim & Sport, Olympia, Lochee, Swim & Leisure Centre, Harris and Baldragon. You will deliver Learn to Swim, including pre-school and ASN, and support new programmes while maintaining high safety standards.

Applicants should hold an NPLQ and SSTQ (or equivalent) and be willing to progress to SSTQ. PVG scheme checks may be required. Flexible hours across city centres and training opportunities are available.

Qualifications

  • Current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and SSTQ or equivalent.
  • UKCC Level 1 Teaching Qualification and willingness to progress to SSTQ.
  • Experience delivering Learn to Swim programmes across ages.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the full range of swimming lessons across city facilities.
  • Support customers and participate in health and safety procedures.
  • Assist with programme development and daily registers.

It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city. www.leisureandculturedundee.com Working as a Swim Teacher on a casual basis, you will be required to work across Leisure & Culture Dundee facilities, including Grove Swim & Sport, Olympia. Lochee, Swim & Leisure Centre, Harris Swim & Sport Centre and Baldragon. Requirements

Current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) & Scottish Swimming Teaching Qualification (SSTQ) or equivalent. A UKCC Level 1 Teaching qualification & willing to work towards a SSTQ (12 months to complete).

Responsibilities

To assist the Aquatics Development Manager and Aquatic Lessons Coordinator with delivering the full range of teaching functions and customer service requirements relating to Leisure and Culture Dundee's involvement in schools and the City-wide aquatics' programmes.

The Individual

You will have experience of planning structured activity/sports sessions, as well as excellent communication skills to work within a team and have the ability to organise sessions and time effectively. You will be required to follow Health & Safety guidelines, Safe Systems of Work and complete Daily registers for participants along with continual assessments. You must be willing to develop your teaching skills whilst working with all ages, abilities and aquatic disciplines. The ability to work flexible hours at citywide centres and a willingness to undertake training opportunities for purposes of both personal and service development are essential for this post. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior work being offered by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
