Job summary

Coast and Vale Learning Trust seeks a Casual School Minibus Driver to transport students safely and reliably, supporting attendance and participation in academy life. You will be responsible for safeguarding and maintaining road safety standards during all journeys.

The role involves vehicle checks, assisting students with seating and restraints, and providing first aid support when required. DBS checks and references are part of the recruitment process, with training opportunities offered as

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driving licence.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
• Willing to undertake First Aid training.

Responsibilities

• Drive/escort students between designated locations.
• Co-operate with school staff and ensure safety of passengers.
• Carry out vehicle checks before driving and report issues.
• Ensure seats and wheelchair restraints are in place for journeys.
• Maintain passenger welfare, safety and comfort at all times.
• Return vehicle keys as instructed and use safety equipment properly.
• Attend safeguarding, MIDAS and manual handling training when needed.
• Keep the vehicle interior clean and comply with procedures.
• Provide a copy of your driving licence every 6 months on request.

Job Title: Casual School Minibus Driver

Salary: £11-£14 per hour

Reporting to: Attendance Manager

Job Purpose and Details:

The Casual School Minibus Driver plays a key role in supporting student attendance, wellbeing and participation in academy life. The postholder will be responsible for providing safe, reliable and timely transport for students, enabling them to attend school and access a wide range of educational, enrichment, sporting and extracurricular activities. The role requires a commitment to safeguarding, excellent customer service and the highest standards of road safety at all times.

Responsibilities:

• To be responsible for carrying out driving /escort duties
• To work co-operatively with all disciplines of staff
• To be responsible for carrying out vehicle checks before driving and report any problems to the school office.
• To be responsible for ensuring that the required number of seats are in place and secure, and that the necessary wheelchair restraints are available for the planned journey.
• To be responsible for the welfare, safety and comfort of passengers at all times, and to offer assistance where appropriate.
• To be responsible for returning vehicle keys at the school office or to leave them as advised if outside office hours.
• To be responsible for the correct use of safety and security equipment in accordance with the instructions given, and the wearing of safety clothing.
• To undertake appropriate training when necessary, in consultation with the other staff, e.g. Safeguarding, MIDAS, Manual Handling
• To be responsible for the cleanliness of the interior of the vehicle you are driving.
• Not to drive any vehicle or use any equipment unless fully trained and confident.
• To supply a copy of your driving licence every 6 months on request, and to immediately advise Salford City Academy of any changes or endorsements to your licence.
• To be responsible for ensuring that all passengers, including yourself, wear a seat belt at all times.
• To hold a current First Aid qualification, or be willing to undertake First Aid training, and to provide appropriate first aid support to students in accordance with school procedures and training received.
