Job summary

Thornbridge Outdoors, the outdoor learning centre operated by Sheffield City Council near Bakewell, invites casual instructors and trainers to join our pool. You will run high quality hillwalking leadership and ITC First first aid courses at our Peak District centre and at partner schools.

Applicants should be passionate about outdoor learning, have experience directing relevant courses, and be approved to direct Mountain Training or ITC First awards.

Qualifications

  • Passion for outdoor activities and delivering outdoor learning.
  • Experience directing hillwalking leadership courses and/or ITC First first aid courses.
  • Ability to direct one or more of the following: Mountain Training Hill & Moorland Leader training and assessments; Mountain Training Lowland Leader Award training and assessments; ITC First Outdoor First Aid and/or Emergency First Aid at Work.

Casual Outdoor Education Instructor and Trainer

Thornbridge Outdoors is Sheffield City Council’s outdoor learning centre located near Bakewell in the Peak District. Our mission is ‘to widen the horizons of young people through real outdoor adventures in the Peak District’.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the pool of casual instructors and trainers at Thornbridge Outdoors and play a key role in providing excellent courses for our clients.

Your main role will be to run high quality hillwalking leadership and/or first aid courses for a range of clients at our centre, in various venues across the Peak District and on occasion at schools.

Applicants should have:

  • A passion for outdoor activities and delivering outdoor learning.
  • Experience directing hillwalking leadership courses and/or ITC First first aid courses and the drive to be able to deliver excellent experiences.
  • Approval to direct one or more of the following courses:
    • Mountain Training Hill & Moorland Leader training and assessments.
    • Mountain Training Lowland Leader Award training and assessments.
    • ITC First Outdoor First Aid and/or Emergency First Aid at Work.
