Job summary

Thornbridge Outdoors is Sheffield City Council's outdoor learning centre, located near Bakewell in the Peak District. We seek casual instructors to run high quality outdoor education sessions for various groups at our centre and in schools across the Peak District.

Opportunities include single days, part weeks, weekends and blocks, with a preference for applicants able to work some weekends and deliver a range of activities such as mountain biking, canoeing, caving, climbing and bushcraft.

Qualifications

• A passion for outdoor activities and delivering outdoor learning.
• Experience leading outdoor activities and the drive to deliver the full range of activities offered at the centre.
• Qualifications for leading adventurous activities including Mountain Training Rock Climbing Instructor (or higher) and at least one of: Mountain Training Hill and Moorland Leader or Mountain Leader; British Caving Local Cave/Mine Leader or higher; British Canoeing qualifications for leading canoeing on a reservoir; a nationally recognised mountain bike leadership qualification for Peak District trails.

Responsibilities

• Run high quality outdoor education sessions for a range of groups at Thornbridge Outdoors, across the Peak District and at schools.
• Deliver activities including mountain biking, canoeing, high ropes, caving/mine exploration, problem solving, abseiling, climbing, hillwalking and bushcraft.
• Work opportunities include single days, part weeks, weekends and Monday-Friday blocks, with some weekends preferred.
