Job summary

Durham University is seeking a Casual Grade 5 Laboratory Support Assistant in the Chemistry Department to assist undergraduate students during practical laboratory classes and support disability needs. The role is casual with a maximum of 7 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist named undergraduate students during practical laboratory classes.
• Help prepare, set up and dismantle equipment and other materials.
• Work with colleagues to construct equipment which will meet requirements.
• Effectively plan, prioritise and respond to ensure an effective, timely service is delivered.
• Respond to queries and deal with problems, escalating issues as required.
• Undertake development and analysis to assist in research projects under direction.
• Provide advice and guidance if requested.
• Contribute to effective health and safety practices.
• Work with colleagues to identify and implement improvements to working activities.
