Job summary

Mitchell Hall at Cranfield University is recruiting a Casual Kitchen Steward to help keep the kitchen and adjacent areas clean and hygienic, supporting daily operations.

The role involves washing service wear, handling cleaning chemicals per COSHH, maintaining records, using equipment correctly, and ensuring PPE usage, with uniform and meals on duty provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and related areas in a clean, tidy and hygienic condition.
• Wash, clean and dry service wear and cooking items and return to storage.
• Use chemicals and cleaning products as directed and per training.
• Maintain records for cleaning duties during shift.
• Use and maintain department equipment and report faults to the Duty Chef.
• Ensure all PPE is used as specified by COSHH guidelines.
• Carry out any other reasonable task as requested by management.
• Comply with procedures and health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Follow departmental working instructions.

Casual Kitchen Steward

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Ensure that the kitchen and associated areas are maintained in a clean, tidy and hygienic condition, including floors within and leading into the kitchen
• Ensure all service wear and cooking items are thoroughly washed, cleaned and dried and returned to designated storage areas
• Ensure all chemicals and cleaning products are used as directed by the manufacturer and in accordance with the training given
• Maintain records for all cleaning duties undertaking during shift
• Use and maintain equipment in the department as trained and to report immediately any faults to the Duty Chef
• Ensure all Personal Protective Equipment is used as specified by COSHH guidelines
• Carry out any other reasonable task as requested by a member of the management team
• Comply with company procedures and legal requirements including Health, Safety and Hygiene standards
• Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with departmental working instructions

Uniform and meals on duty are provided.
