Job summary

Cranfield University is seeking a dedicated kitchen porter to help maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen and related areas. You will follow COSHH guidelines, support the Duty Chef, and help keep records of cleaning tasks.

As part of a friendly team, you will bring warmth, reliability and a can-do attitude to every shift, ensuring safety and hygiene standards are met across the department.

Qualifications

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and associated areas, including floors leading into the kitchen.
• Wash, clean and dry all service wear and cooking items and return to storage areas.
• Use all chemicals and cleaning products as directed by the manufacturer and per training.
• Maintain records for all cleaning duties undertaken during shift.
• Use and maintain department equipment and report faults to the Duty Chef promptly.
• Wear and use Personal Protective Equipment as specified by COSHH guidelines.
• Carry out any other reasonable task as requested by management.
• Comply with procedures and legal requirements including Health, Safety and Hygiene standards.
• Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with departmental working instructions.

Job description

• Ensure that the kitchen and associated areas are maintained in a clean, tidy and hygienic condition, including floors within and leading into the kitchen
• Ensure all service wear and cooking items are thoroughly washed, cleaned and dried and returned to designated storage areas
• Ensure all chemicals and cleaning product are used as directed by the manufacturer and in accordance to the training given
• Maintain records for all cleaning duties undertaken during shift
• Use and maintain equipment in the department as trained and to report immediately any faults to the Duty Chef
• Ensure all Personal Protective Equipment is used as specified by COSHH guidelines
• Carry out any other reasonable task as requested by a member of the management team
• Comply with company procedures and legal requirements including Health, Safety and Hygiene standards
• Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with departmental working instructions
