Job description

This is a deployment-based role for individuals who can be mobilised on short notice, serving as front-line responders during periods of high demand. You'll represent Securitas professionally, as a Fire Resilience Crew Driver contributing directly to UK emergency preparedness.

Train and core responsibilities: your role begins with a comprehensive 12-day training program at the Fire Service College in Moreton-In-Marsh, covering skills essential for deployment, including:

  • Hose running
  • Hydrant operation
  • Pump operation
  • Ladder climbing
  • Operating a Fire Engine in an emergency situation
  • Road Traffic Collision (RTC) - the use of hydraulic cutting equipment
  • First Aid
  • Emergency response driving (Driving on blue lights), Engage in ongoing training to maintain deployable status, including a 12-day initial training, 5-day initial emergency response driver training and annual 6-day refresher courses.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance checks on the fire engine, pump, hoses, and related equipment to ensure readiness and reliability.
  • Participate in scenario-based training and skills practice during 'stand-down' times to ensure full readiness.
  • Mobilise quickly to Central London and deploy to designated emergency locations as needed.
  • Support emergency response activities, performing tasks typically handled by professional firefighters.
  • Travel throughout the UK, prepared for extended assignments and periods of training and readiness exercises.
  • Adhere to safety protocols for personal protective equipment and vehicles.
Physical Ability
  • Stamina: Ability to run 100 meters, jog for 5 minutes, and complete a 12-hour shift.
  • Movement and Agility: Ability to climb ladders up to 8m, navigate confined spaces, and maintain flexibility in movement.
  • Strength: Capability to lift up to 25kg and drag 55kg (e.g., heavy equipment or simulated rescue scenarios).
  • Environment Adaptability: Ability to work in extreme temperatures, variable weather, and in enclosed or dark spaces.
  • Vision and Hearing: Unassisted ability to read and distinguish sounds.

Medical Fitness

Additional Specification
  • Sensitivity and Professionalism: Manage challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Continued Competency: Participate in annual training and scenario-based exercises during "stand-down" times to remain deployable.
  • Must hold a Cat C licence for at least 1 year.
  • Must have a full UK or EU driving license with a Clean Category C qualification.
  • Must have right to work in the UK, be able to travel nationwide and pass security screening.
