Job summary

Fleetwood Town Football Club is seeking a Casual / Matchday and Training Support Medical Practitioner to provide pitch-side medical cover, injury management, and rehabilitation support across the Academy age groups within a Category Two environment.

You will work with academy medical and performance staff, maintaining records, and ensuring emergency plans are followed. Evening, weekend, and matchday availability is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation or related discipline.
• ITMMiF (or equivalent pitch-side trauma qualification).
• Up-to-date Emergency First Aid qualification.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (HCPC, CSP, SST, BASRaT or equivalent).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and academy matchdays.
• Commitment to safeguarding and player welfare.

Responsibilities

• Matchday Medical Provision: Provide pitch-side medical cover for Academy fixtures.
• Matchday Medical Provision: Deliver immediate assessment and management of injuries sustained during training and matches.
• Matchday Medical Provision: Maintain accurate injury and treatment records in line with Academy procedures.
• Matchday Medical Provision: Ensure appropriate emergency action plans are followed when required.
• Player Care & Rehabilitation: Assist in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injured academy players.
• Player Care & Rehabilitation: Deliver evidence-based injury prevention and recovery strategies.
• Player Care & Rehabilitation: Support return-to-play processes under the direction of full-time medical staff.
• Player Care & Rehabilitation: Communicate effectively with players, parents, coaches and support staff regarding injury status and rehabilitation progress.
• Medical Administration: Complete medical documentation and player treatment notes accurately and promptly.
• Medical Administration: Ensure medical equipment and first aid supplies are maintained and match-ready.
• Medical Administration: Support the implementation of medical screening and monitoring processes where required.

Role Purpose

The role will support the delivery of medical services across the Academy age groups, providing injury prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and matchday medical cover. The successful candidate will work closely with Academy medical and performance staff to help maintain the health, welfare and development of academy players within a Category Two Academy environment.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

• Degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation or related discipline.
• Current ITMMiF (or equivalent pitch‑side trauma qualification).
• Up-to‑date Emergency First Aid qualification.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (HCPC, CSP, SST, BASRaT or equivalent).

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working within an elite youth sport or academy environment.
• Experience using athlete management or medical record systems.
