Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Castings Engineer (MAGMASOFT) based in Dudley, West Midlands. You will use MAGMASOFT to optimise mould filling, solidification and casting performance across iron and steel sectors, collaborating with pattern shop and production teams.

The role offers £40,000–£45,000 per annum, 40 hours per week, with strong career progression in a growing foundry and heavy engineering business in the Black Country.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification and practical experience in casting simulation, metallurgy and manufacturing processes.
• Experience applying MAGMASOFT or similar simulation software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, run and interpret MAGMASOFT simulations for new and existing castings.
• Analyse simulation results to identify potential casting defects and recommend practical solutions.
• Design and optimise gating, feeding and risering systems to improve quality, yield and manufacturing efficiency.
• Work closely with Pattern Shop and Engineering teams to implement simulation-led tooling and process improvements.
• Support new product introductions through casting feasibility and manufacturability assessments.
• Provide simulation-based technical feedback to internal stakeholders and customers where required.
• Validate simulation predictions against production results and trial data.
• Maintain and update MAGMASOFT material and process databases.
• Produce technical reports and recommendations to support engineering and operational decision-making.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, yield improvement and scrap reduction.
• Keep up to date with developments in MAGMASOFT software and casting simulation best practice.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, quality and environmental procedures.
