Job summary

Comton Group is seeking an experienced MAGMASOFT Engineer to join our Technical team in a 40-hour-per-week, full-time role within a busy foundry environment. The role focuses on using MAGMASOFT/MAGMA5 to simulate and optimise casting processes, improving quality and yield while reducing defects.

You will work with Pattern Shop, Foundry Engineering and Quality teams to translate simulation results into practical tooling and process improvements, validating results with trial castings and

Qualifications

  • Experience with MAGMASOFT/MAGMA5 or similar casting simulation software.
  • Background in foundry and casting processes.
  • Knowledge of gating, feeding and risering design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build, run and interpret MAGMASOFT/MAGMA5 simulations for mould filling, solidification and thermal behaviour.
  • Analyse simulation results to identify defects such as shrinkage, misruns and porosity.
  • Design and optimise gating, feeding and risering systems.
  • Support new product introduction and casting feasibility studies.
  • Provide technical input into quotations and new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Pattern Shop and Engineering teams to implement tooling improvements.
  • Validate simulation results against trial castings and production data.
