Job summary

Bath College is recruiting a Carpentry Lecturer/Assessor to deliver a high-quality wood occupation apprenticeship programme, teaching in college and undertaking on-site assessments. You will manage a caseload of workplace-based apprentices and help maintain high completion rates while meeting industry and End-Point Assessment standards.

The role is a permanent, full-time position based at Radstock, with teaching and assessment responsibilities across both classroom and workshop environments.

Qualifications

• Level 2 English and Maths (minimum)
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in carpentry/joinery
• TAQA Assessor Award to be completed within 12 months
• L5 teaching qualification or willingness to work towards it

Responsibilities

• Provide induction, assessment, training and teaching to apprentices in workplace and college.
• Teach, assess and support apprentices in woodworking (architectural joinery and site carpentry).
• Participate in apprentice actions planning and initial assessments.
• Support marketing and promotional activities of the college.

Permanent contract, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Unqualified Lecturer Salary (P25-P27 £30,348.15 - £32,186.70)

Qualified Lecturer Salary L5 and above (P27-P35 £32,186.70 - £40,015.50)

Key purpose: To work with the Apprenticeship Manager to deliver a high-quality wood occupation apprenticeship programme including classroom and workshop theory and practical teaching. As well onsite (employer based) assessment and reviews in both architectural Joinery and Site Carpentry to all apprentices, that meets Bath College quality expectations, that prepares apprentices in both knowledge, skills and behaviours that meet the needs of the industry, the Apprenticeship Institute and End-Point Assessment criteria to a merit or distinction standard.

Manage, review, assess and train a caseload of apprentices who are based in the workplace and are currently undertaking Apprenticeships. To ensure that the success rates of apprentices are at or above the level set by the College.

Key Responsibilities

• To provide induction, assessment, training, coaching, teaching and assessment to apprentices who are undertaking Apprenticeship Programmes and supporting qualification(s)
• Teach, asses, support, advise and assist apprentices during their training both at college and in the workplace.
• Deal with queries when supervising apprentices.
• Participate in the promotional and marketing aspects of the college.
• Undertake initial assessment of apprentices and assist in the apprentice actions planning

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Level 2 (e.g. GCSE) English and Maths at Grade C or above
• Qualified to NVQ Level 3, or equivalent, in a carpentry/joinery discipline.
• Assessor to demonstrate a commitment to complete the TAQA Assessor Award within a 12-month period.
• L5 teaching qualification or equivalent(or willingness to work towards) Full UK Driving Licence and use of own vehicle.
