Job summary

Manpower UK seeks an experienced Carpenter/Multi-Trade Assistant for a full-time, fixed-term contract of up to 12 weeks, based in Banbury, paying up to £19.12 per hour. Hours are Mon-Fri, 8am–5pm, with duties covering carpentry, repairs, maintenance and general multi-trade tasks across domestic, commercial or public-sector properties.

A driving licence is preferred. The successful candidate will show strong workmanship, reliability and the ability to work unsupervised, delivering quality results

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Carpenter/Multi-Trade Operative or similar.
• Strong carpentry and joinery skills.
• Experience with general property repairs and maintenance.
• Ability to perform tasks across multiple trades.
• Good attention to detail and workmanship quality.

Responsibilities

• Carry out first- and second-fix carpentry work.
• Install, repair and maintain doors, frames, skirting boards, architraves and flooring.
• Complete general building repairs and maintenance.
• Undertake multi-trade duties such as basic plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating and minor repairs.
• Diagnose faults and identify repair solutions.
• Work from job instructions, drawings and maintenance schedules.
• Complete work to a high standard within timescales.
• Maintain records of work and materials used.
• Liaise with customers, tenants, colleagues and supervisors.

This is a fixed Term Contract, for up to 12 weeks, with the opportunity to be extended. For the right candidate, we would be paying £19.12ph and would be working Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Ideally you would have a driving licence, as main responsibilities are based in Buckinghamshire. Key responsibilities

• Complete work to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
• Liaise professionally with customers, tenants, colleagues, and supervisors.
• Keep tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas clean and safe.
• Follow all company policies, risk assessments, and health and safety procedures.
• Report any further works, hazards, or materials required.

About you

• Proven experience as a Carpenter, Multi-Trade Operative, Maintenance Operative, or similar.
• Strong carpentry and joinery skills.
• Experience carrying out general property repairs and maintenance.
• The ability to complete basic tasks across other trades.
• Good attention to detail and pride in their workmanship.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• A reliable, flexible, and professional approach.
• A full UK driving licence, if required for the role.
• Relevant qualifications or trade certifications, such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent, are desirable.
