Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) invites applications for a Carpenter inc Locksmith at HMP Coldingley. You will join a busy facilities team caring for security and safe operation within the prison environment.

The role requires proven carpentry experience, proficiency with power tools, and solid IT skills. A First Aid at Work qualification and NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or equivalent are preferred. A strong safety mindset and good organisational skills are essential.

Salary: £39,195.77 per annum

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Carpenter inc Locksmith to join our team at Coldingley, a busy category C adult male prison.

As a Carpenter inc Locksmith you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Carpenter with a combination of:

• Substantiated experience in a similar role
• Be able to display competency in the use and operation of all associated power tools and machinery
• Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
• Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification
• City & Guilds, National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Carpentry or an equivalent qualification or substantial experience
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
