Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) is seeking a Carpenter inc Locksmith for HMP East Sutton Park in the Maidstone area. This permanent role is 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a salary of £39,195.77.

Join a dedicated facilities maintenance team within a Category D, female prison, delivering a safe and secure environment. The role requires experience, tool competency, IT basics, and a strong commitment to health and safety.

Qualifications

• Substantiated experience in a similar role.
• Competence in the use and operation of all associated power tools and machinery.
• Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
• Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification.
• City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or equivalent or substantial experience.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out carpentry and locksmith tasks within the prison facilities.
• Ensure safety and compliance with health and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and execute repairs and improvements.

Salary: £39,195.77

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Carpenter inc Locksmith to join our team at HMP East Sutton Park, a Category D, Female prison.

As a Carpenter inc Locksmith you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Carpenter with a combination of:

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
