Job summary

Tempting Recruitment is helping a busy Local Authority in East London hire an experienced Carpenter to join their Housing Repairs & Maintenance team. You will deliver reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and installations across council-owned properties and social housing, working fully onsite.

The role requires a practical skilled carpenter with experience in social housing repairs, a valid driving licence, and the ability to use mobile job management tools.

Qualifications

• Experienced in social housing repairs and maintenance.
• Valid Driving Licence for mobile repairs delivery.
• Own tools preferred; client may provide replacements.
• Van and fuel card provided and can be taken home.

• Carry out first- and second-fix carpentry: doors, frames, locks, flooring, skirting, stairs, windows.
• Respond to emergency and day-to-day repair requests in occupied or void properties.

Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in East London, are looking for an experienced Carpenter to join their team and play a crucial role in their Housing Repairs & Maintenance.

Position: Carpenter

Rate: Negotiable (PAYE)

Contract Duration: Temp (Apr 2027) Possible Extension

Working Arrangement: Fully Onsite

Job Purpose:

• Delivering reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and installations across council-owned residential properties, social housing, and public buildings.

Job Responsibilities:

• Carry out first- and second-fix carpentry, including hanging doors, repairing door frames, fitting locks, installing flooring, skirting boards, staircases, and window frames.
• Respond to emergency and day-to-day repair requests in occupied or void (empty) council properties.
• Use mobile job management tools (like a PDA or tablet) to track schedules, log completed work, and order van stock.

Job Requirements:

• Experienced in social housing repairs and maintenance.
• Experienced in mobile repairs delivery with a valid Driving Licence.
• PPE and tools will be provided. Candidates should ideally have their own tools to start with, but the client will replace/provide these as required.
• A van and fuel card will be provided and can be taken home.
