Job summary

MMP Consultancy is seeking an experienced Carpenter for fascia, soffit and roof batten work across Bodmin and surrounding areas. You will work on residential and commercial properties with a focus on safety and quality workmanship.

Ideal candidates will have roofing experience, full UK driving licence, own tools and transport, and a solid understanding of health and safety requirements. The role is site-based with travel to local sites.

Qualifications

• Proven carpentry experience, especially fascia, soffit and roof battens.
• Experience on roofing projects and exterior property maintenance.
• Ability to work at height and interpret specifications.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and replace fascia boards to support guttering and improve roofline integrity.
• Fit and maintain soffit boards ensuring ventilation and weather protection.
• Install, repair and replace roof battens for roofing works and coverings.
• Assess roofline and timber structures, identify defects and propose repairs.
• Carry out remedial carpentry on roof structures as required.
• Work safely complying with health and safety regulations.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Keep accurate records of works and materials used.
• Communicate professionally with tenants, clients and site teams.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter to carry out the installation, repair, and replacement of fascia boards, soffits, and roof battens across residential and commercial properties. The successful candidate will have a strong background in roofing and external carpentry works, with a focus on delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.

Location: Bodmin and surrounding areas

Key Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and replace fascia boards to support guttering systems and improve roofline integrity.
• Fit and maintain soffit boards, ensuring adequate roof ventilation and weather protection.
• Install, repair, and replace roof battens in preparation for roofing works and roof covering installations.
• Assess roofline and timber structures, identifying defects and recommending appropriate repairs.
• Carry out remedial carpentry works to roof structures where required.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of completed works and materials used.
• Communicate professionally with tenants, clients, and site teams.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Carpenter, ideally within roofing or external property maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of fascia, soffit, and roof batten installation and repair.
• Experience working at height and on roofing structures.
• Ability to interpret work specifications and complete jobs independently.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Own tools and transport.
• Good understanding of health and safety legislation.

Desirable Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent.
• Working at Height Certificate.
• Asbestos Awareness Certificate.
• Manual Handling Certificate.
