Job summary

Avery Healthcare in Downham Market is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant for Carrstone House Care Home. You will support the catering function, help prepare meals and beverages, and maintain clean, safe kitchen environments to deliver high-quality care to residents.

This role requires Basic Food Hygiene, knowledge of health and safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy setting. DBS disclosure is provided by Avery, and eligibility to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrate high standards of personal hygiene.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, and COSHH assessments.
• Efficient worker with high physical effort and ability to handle a demanding workload.
• Demonstrate initiative and flexibility in a team environment.
• Caring and understanding attitude towards residents.

Responsibilities

• Support catering in food preparation and maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen.
• Ensure safe food handling and high hygiene standards.
• Contribute to team work and respond promptly to instructions.
• Advise on supply and quality of items and timely ordering of replacements.
• Respect the dignity and individuality of residents and visitors.
