Job summary

Healthcare Ireland Group seeks a Kitchen Assistant for The Home in Portstewart, a care setting specialising in residential and dementia care for residents over 65. The role supports the Chef in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a safe kitchen environment.

You will help with stock, meal delivery, basic food prep, and daily kitchen hygiene, contributing to a calm, home-like atmosphere for residents and staff.

Qualifications

• The Right to Work in the UK.
• A good standard of both verbal and written English.
• Previous catering, kitchen or food preparation experience.
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that all catering stock and equipment is correctly stored and accounted for in accordance with the company’s Assured Safe Catering standards.
• Delivers meals and other catering supplies to various areas within the unit in a timely and efficient manner.
• Under direction, assists with the basic preparation of food items.
• Ensures all cleaning within the kitchen, catering and servery areas (as appropriate) is completed and complies with the company’s Assured Safe Catering standards.
• Delivers and maintain a clean and tidy environment throughout the home, in line with operational standards and ensures that work processes comply with statutory regulations.
• Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Chef or Cook.
