Job summary

Avery Healthcare is hiring a Kitchen Assistant for Abbey Court Care Home in Heath Hayes, Cannock. You will support food preparation and maintain a clean environment to ensure safe, high-quality meals for residents, while upholding hygiene standards and teamwork.

The role requires Basic Food Hygiene, knowledge of safety procedures, physical stamina, and a caring attitude toward residents. DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and maintain high personal hygiene.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
• Be an efficient worker with a high level of physical effort and able to manage demanding workload.
• Demonstrate initiative and a flexible, team-oriented approach.
• Show a caring and understanding attitude towards residents.

Responsibilities

• Support the catering function in food preparation and maintain a clean kitchen.
• Ensure high hygiene standards in all food preparations.
• Contribute to team working and respond promptly to instructions.
• Advise on supply and quality, ensuring timely ordering of replacements.
• Interact with residents and visitors with dignity and respect.
