Job summary

Homes for Students Ltd seeks a Caretaker for The Priory property in Leeds, working 30 hours per week. The role covers property maintenance across several trades, painting, plumbing tasks, and general repairs to maintain high service standards for residents.

Applicants should have trade experience or a relevant qualification, with strong health and safety awareness, customer care, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Painting and decorating as required.
• Unblocking drains and basic plumbing tasks.

• Managing fault response to keep residents informed and satisfied.

Job description

Homes for Students is one of the UK’s leading providers of student accommodation. We currently have a vacancy for a Caretaker at our The Prioryproperty in Leeds working 30hours per week.

General duties will include but not be limited to:

• Painting
• Unblocking drains
• Fixing taps
• Changing lightbulbs
• Litter picking the perimeter

The postholder will be responsible for driving a high-quality customer experience in relation to the speed and quality of the service provided to reported faults and the general condition, state and repair of the property.

Person Specification:

• Previous experience of Property maintenance within a similar environment, or experienced and qualified in a trade with the ability to work across a number of trade disciplines to a reasonable standard.
• Awareness of Health and Safety issues and legal requirements.
• Excellent customer care skills with the ability to report outstanding actions and to keep individuals informed of progress.
• Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience of prioritising workload to meet competing deadlines without close supervision.
• To be proactive in approach, with the ability to use initiative and resolve issues or problems quickly and effectively.
• Ability to work in a team and have a flexible approach to work.
