Job summary

First Military Recruitment are seeking a Caretaker/Housekeeper on behalf of a client in Dunblane. The role is part-time (30 hours per week) and focuses on cleaning boarding houses, bedrooms and communal spaces for around 80 occupants. PVG check is required and annual leave is taken outside term time.

The candidate will work with other staff, cover different houses as needed, and perform cleaning and hygiene duties while remaining vigilant for safety concerns.

Responsibilities

• Clean boarding houses, bedrooms and communal spaces, fitting within a structured routine.
• Cover assigned houses and assist with other houses as needed, working with staff.
• Vacuum, dust, wet-clean surfaces and keep rooms tidy; maintain hygienic wash areas.
• Flag safeguarding concerns discreetly; training provided; contact minimal.
• Notice damages or unsafe practices and report to Management promptly.
• In summer, assist with letting activity and work as a team.
• Take annual leave outside term time.

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Caretaker / Housekeeper on behalf of one of our clients. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the job purpose is primarily cleaning boarding houses, bedrooms and other communal spaces. Boarding houses have around 80 occupants.


• Housekeepers are generally assigned to one of the four boarding houses although will be expected to cover other houses should the need arise. The job entails working closely with other members of staff who will prioritise activities and issue any reasonable day to day tasks on top of a structured cleaning routine.


• Each occupant is expected to make their bed and keep their room tidy. The Housekeeper would be expected to build on that by vacuuming, dusting and wet cleaning of horizontal surfaces as appropriate, dusting the higher and lower parts of the room, cleaning the wash hand basin and checking to ensure the environment is hygienic.


• There is a safeguarding element to the role where the post holder would be expected to flag any concerns regards discreetly and promptly (training is provided). Contact, however, is minimal.


• The Housekeeper should be alert to other matters whilst going about their duties, such as damages, defects or concerns with unsafe practices. Any of these should be brought to the attention of Management.


• In the main summer holiday, the Housekeeper s duties switch from the care of residents to housekeeping in support of summer letting activity. In this case, the Housekeepers work together, as a team.


• Annual leave should be taken outside of term time.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Disclosure Scotland PVG Check is required and will be arranged by the employer.
