Job summary

First Military Recruitment are seeking a Caretaker / Housekeeper (part-time 30 hours per week) in Dunblane on behalf of one of their clients. The role focuses on cleaning boarding houses, bedrooms and communal spaces for around 80 occupants, under supervision of the Facilities Manager.

The candidate should have previous experience in a similar role, with safeguarding training provided. Duties shift during summer letting periods and annual leave should be booked outside term time.

Overview

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Caretaker / Housekeeper on behalf of one of our clients. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the job purpose is primarily cleaning boarding houses, bedrooms and other communal spaces. Boarding houses have around 80 occupants.
• Housekeepers are generally assigned to one of the four boarding houses although will be expected to cover other houses should the need arise. The job entails working closely with other members of staff who will prioritise activities and issue any reasonable day to day tasks on top of a structured cleaning routine.
• Each occupant is expected to make their bed and keep their room tidy. The Housekeeper would be expected to build on that by vacuuming, dusting and wet cleaning of horizontal surfaces as appropriate, dusting the higher and lower parts of the room, cleaning the wash hand basin and checking to ensure the environment is hygienic.
• There is a safeguarding element to the role where the post holder would be expected to flag any concerns regards discreetly and promptly (training is provided). Contact, however, is minimal.
• The Housekeeper should be alert to other matters whilst going about their duties, such as damages, defects or concerns with unsafe practices. Any of these should be brought to the attention of Management.
• In the main summer holiday, the Housekeeper's duties switch from the care of residents to housekeeping in support of summer letting activity. In this case, the Housekeepers work together, as a team.
• Annual leave should be taken outside of term time.

Skills and Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Disclosure Scotland PVG Check is required and will be arranged by the employer.
