Job summary

Hatched Recruitment Group are seeking an experienced Caretaker to work at a site in Birmingham B9. The role involves supporting day-to-day operation, safety and maintenance, with liaison to supervisors, contractors, technical teams and the client.

The position offers a varied workload with overtime and occasional weekend work. An Enhanced DBS is required to enter the site, and dark clothing plus safety boots are required for site access.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS required to enter the site.
• Previous caretaking, facilities management or maintenance experience is desirable.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe systems of work.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to deal confidently with contractors, clients and site users.
• Dark clothing and safety boots required.
• Flexibility to work occasional weekends and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing buildings and ensuring site security.
• Carrying out daily site inspections and identifying defects.
• Logging maintenance issues through the helpdesk and ensuring jobs are completed within required timescales.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and minor repairs within your capabilities.
• General caretaking duties including porterage, litter picking, cleaning and basic maintenance.
• Managing site stock, materials and equipment.
• Carrying out and recording statutory compliance checks, including fire alarm testing and emergency lighting checks.
• Reporting hazards, near misses and incidents.
• Maintaining accurate compliance records and documentation.
• Supporting safeguarding requirements.
• Providing site information, reports and other information when required.

The Role
