The Supply Register is recruiting a School Caretaker for a partner school in Tamworth. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming environment and supporting day-to-day site operations. You will handle opening/locking, basic repairs, health and safety checks, room setups, and liaising with contractors.

The position is full-time and based on site. Experience in caretaking or facilities helps, along with practical DIY skills and reliable, independent work.

Location: Tamworth

Start Date: September 2026 (or as soon as possible)

Contract: Temporary with the potential to become permanent

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of one of our partner schools in Tamworth for a reliable and proactive School Caretaker.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school site each day.
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and DIY tasks.
• Ensuring the school premises and grounds are clean, safe and well maintained.
• Undertaking health and safety checks and reporting any issues.
• Assisting with deliveries, room setups and school events.
• Liaising with contractors and supporting site compliance where required.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous caretaking, site management, facilities or maintenance experience is desirable.
• Practical DIY and maintenance skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety.
• Reliable, trustworthy and able to work independently.
• A positive attitude and excellent communication skills.

Essential Compliance Requirements

• Provide a full employment history covering the last 24 months.
• Provide a minimum of two employment references (three if you have not previously worked with children).
• Complete an employment history form covering every month from leaving full-time education.
• Obtain character references where required to cover any gaps in employment.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
• Provide proof of right to work in the UK.
• Provide two proofs of address, proof of National Insurance and any relevant name change documentation.
• Complete our free mandatory safeguarding and compliance training.
