Job summary

The Supply Register is recruiting for a School Caretaker to cover across schools in Bodmin and Redruth. This part-time role offers 20 hours per week with negotiable hours, across multiple sites.

You will maintain safe, clean, welcoming school environments and support with deliveries, room setups and site security. Experience in caretaking or facilities is desirable, with a basic DIY skillset and good health and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure school premises.
• Carry out general maintenance and basic DIY tasks.

• Liaise with contractors as required.
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues across Bodmin and Redruth sites.

The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of one of our partner trusts for a School Caretaker to work across schools in Bodmin and Redruth.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a reliable, proactive and hands‑on individual who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in maintaining safe, clean and welcoming school environments.

The Role

• Opening and securing school premises.
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks.
• Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are safe, clean and well maintained.
• Completing routine health and safety checks.
• Supporting with room setups, deliveries and site security.
• Liaising with contractors where required.
• Responding promptly to maintenance issues across both school sites.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous caretaking, facilities, maintenance or site management experience is desirable.
• Good practical DIY and maintenance skills.
• A good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Flexible and able to travel between schools in Bodmin and Redruth.
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently.

Essential Compliance Requirements

• Provide a full employment history covering the last 24 months.
• Provide a minimum of two employment references (three if you have not previously worked with children).
• Complete an Employment History Form covering every month from leaving full-time education.
• Provide character references where required to cover any gaps in employment.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
• Provide proof of right to work in the UK.
• Provide two proofs of address, proof of National Insurance and any relevant name change documentation.
• Complete our free mandatory safeguarding and compliance training.
