Job Vacancy: School Caretaker

Location: Birmingham

About The Role

As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of the school premises. Your responsibilities will include opening and closing the school daily, carrying out general maintenance and upkeep, handling manual tasks such as moving furniture, and ensuring the security of the building. You will also conduct regular health and safety checks, manage deliveries and liaise with suppliers, and assist with event setup and takedown.

Shift Pattern

This role involves split shifts, Monday to Friday:

• 6:30 AM - 10:30 AM (Morning shift) & 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM (Afternoon/Evening shift)
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the school premises daily
• Performing routine maintenance and ensuring the building is well-maintained
• Manual handling tasks, including moving furniture and equipment
• Ensuring the safety and security of the school at all times
• Conducting health and safety inspections and maintaining due diligence
• Managing deliveries and liaising with suppliers effectively
• Setting up and taking down equipment for school events and activities
  
  

Candidate Requirements

• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
• Right to work in the UK
• Understanding in COSHH & Manual Handling
• Relevant experience in facilities management, maintenance, or caretaking roles
• Strong practical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
