Job summary

The Kemnal Academies Trust is seeking a dedicated Caretaker for East Wickham Primary Academy to support daily site operations in a demanding school environment. The role covers maintenance, security and cleanliness, with responsibilities for minor repairs and liaising with contractors to ensure safe, ongoing operations.

A basic level of computer literacy is required for logging checks and coordinating with the Estates team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in premises maintenance or facilities management is preferred.
  • Knowledge of health and safety compliance and risk assessments.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills for building/site management tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the school site including maintenance, security and cleanliness.
  • Undertake minor repairs and maintenance to keep the school operating safely.
  • Represent the school when dealing with contractors and suppliers in the absence of the Premises Manager.
  • General duties requiring basic computer use.

Job description

Hours 10:00am - 18:00pm. This is to work alongside our existing caretaker and we would expect some flexibility in working hours to cover leave etc.,

  • Responsible for the maintenance, security and cleanliness of the school site.
  • Undertake minor repairs and maintenance in order to ensure the school can operate safely on a daily basis.
  • Represents the school in dealing with contractors and suppliers involved in the repair and upkeep of the building and site, in the absence of the Premises Manager.
  • A basic level of computer skills is required.

We are looking for a conscientious and self motivated Caretaker to join our supportive and collaborative team., You will be conscientious, dynamic and work well as part of the wider trust Estates team. To be considered for this role, you will need experience and knowledge of regulatory bodies and compliance. As a Caretaker you will be responsible for all planned maintenance, health and safety compliance, including carrying out and reviewing premises-related risk assessments and action plans. A good selection of DIY / Handyperson skills is essential.
