Main responsibilities include:

• Maintaining a clean, safe, and secure school environment, including buildings, swimming pool, and grounds.
• Performing cleaning, handyperson activities, routine maintenance, refurbishment, porterage, and minor repairs.
• Promoting health and safety around the school.
• Supervising external contractors and planning site use and development.

As a Caretaker, you will:

• Ensure a clean, safe, secure, and pleasant environment for users.
• Manage opening and closing of the building and grounds.
• Manage site operations, including contractors.
• Support building projects within set tolerances.
• Coordinate with building users for additional or non-standard usage.
• Maintain security as the main key holder and conduct end-of-day checks.
• Set security alarms, report breaches, respond to alarms.
• Check CCTV, alarm systems, locks, fire safety equipment, and perimeter fencing.
• Advise on security and safety issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including fire and legionella testing.
• Oversee contractor access and ensure the safety and maintenance of estate fabric and equipment.
• Manage waste disposal and maintain cleanliness and safety of pathways.
• Operate heating systems and report deficiencies.
• Coordinate repairs and maintenance, including minor repairs.
• Perform porterage duties and maintain a clutter-free environment.
• Respond to weather-related safety needs, such as snow clearing.
• Carry out cleaning duties when necessary, adhering to COSHH standards.
• Maintain safety logs and liaise with management on safety issues.

Working arrangements

Flexible working practices are embraced. The role requires working from Brays School Sheldon B26 1NS, Monday to Friday, with shifts from 7:30am to 11am and 2:30pm to 6pm.
