Job summary

Davenant Foundation School in Loughton is seeking a part-time Careers Advisor to organise and deliver careers guidance interviews alongside the progression and work experience co-ordinator. This is a one-day-a-week post during term time, with inset days, parents' evenings and two days in the summer holidays.

You will hold a Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification and possess strong ICT skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite).

Qualifications

• Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification required.
• 5 GCSEs A*-C or 9-4 (or equivalent) required.
• Experience working with young people and giving career guidance.
• Experience with external service providers and communicating with parents.

Job description

This Careers Advisor post sits within the careers team at Davenant Foundation School, a secondary school of around 1,200 pupils, supporting the Careers Leader. The core of the work is organising and delivering careers guidance interviews alongside the careers progression and work experience co-ordinator. It is a one-day-a-week post during term time, with inset days, parents' evening and two days in the summer holidays, and needs a Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification
• 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C or 9-4, or equivalent

Experience

• Working with young people and giving advice and guidance on career pathways
• Supporting colleagues and working alongside external service providers
• Communicating with parents and carers

Skills & knowledge

• Good communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, pupils and visitors
• Good ICT skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads
• Excellent knowledge of progression routes, qualifications and post-16 and post-18 career pathways
• Ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities and operational needs
