Sense Scotland is recruiting now for Support Practitioners for our Housing Support Services in Dundee. Our established and caring staff teams are looking for like-minded people to join them in their goal to ensure the lives of the people we support are fun and fulfilled whilst delivering the best quality care and support.
Our housing support teams work with individuals within their own homes. Your shift will involve being with one person on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with the added support of a wider staff team, and onsite supervisors and managers, so you will never feel like you are on your own.
You will support with day-to-day living chores such as housework, cooking, shopping, and finances. Personal care is a part of the role which can vary from person to person supported, and will generally include bathing, toileting, moving and assisting, and administering medications.
At Sense Scotland, we encourage a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise. When it comes to cooking, your skills will be put to the test! It may be trying home baking, exciting new recipes, or keeping to the basics. Everyone has their favorites, and you will need to draw on your skills to make it their way.
Each person we support has their own chosen activities which can range from a daily walk, weekly swimming, dancing, or a gym session for exercise, some of which we achieve through group activities within the community.
There is always something going on in the city, and we want you to be the person who encourages and introduces new things which you feel the person we support may enjoy. By doing this, you will learn about the person you are supporting, enabling you to build their trust. We want you to take the lead in organising a birthday treat, a holiday, special occasion, or helping to fulfil a lifelong dream!
You can be their person; you can make a difference however small; the possibilities are endless. So, if you are nurturing, resilient, enthusiastic, reflective, adaptable, and have a genuine passion for the work we do within Sense Scotland, then this can be your perfect opportunity.
You may be thinking this all sounds great, but how would I support someone whose behaviour I may find challenging? This is where our robust support system steps in. With ongoing training, staff supervisions, and access to learning and development courses, you will develop all the skills you need for the role.
In return, all we ask of you is to bring the best of you every day to ensure the people we support live their best life every day!
