The role involves leading a team, ensuring high standards of care, and supporting older people to live well. Salary £36,487.50
Permanent – Full Time (40 hours per week)
Monday to Friday (including some evenings and weekends).
Friends of the Elderly (FotE) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to providing excellent care with a family feel. We have been supporting older people for over 100 years. The charity offers care home and day care services for older people, as well as grants for those in financial difficulty.
We are seeking a Care Manager to work alongside the management team to ensure the successful opening of our new home, Friends Place, in Calcot, Reading. Our state-of-the-art care home will feature:
66 luxury bedrooms with ensuite wet rooms.

Our modern facilities are designed to create a warm and homely environment where residents feel safe, valued, and supported. Friends Place will be a vibrant, welcoming community providing exceptional residential, dementia, and respite care.
Joining us as Care Manager, you will:
Support the General Manager in all aspects of daily operations, providing leadership to the care team to promote person-centred care.
Lead, supervise, monitor, and evaluate the care delivered to residents, ensuring legal compliance and high standards within the care home.
Assist in implementing specific projects aligned with the charity's strategy, vision, and goals.
Ensure timely completion of care home quality processes, cross-referenced as directed by the General Manager.
Lead staff recruitment and ensure comprehensive training.
Support staff supervision and appraisals, maintaining up-to-date records.
Conduct care home rounds, handle inquiries, and carry out Moving-In assessments for new residents.
Participate actively in marketing strategies for the home.
This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about supporting older people to live well. You should have experience leading and managing a team, ideally as a Deputy Care Manager or similar, with knowledge of the Care Certificate, Care Standards Act, and health and safety legislation.
Approachable, resilient, and professional, you should have a positive attitude, be knowledgeable about sales and marketing principles, and skilled in staff recruitment and retention. You should be a problem solver with a proactive approach to current practices, capable of conducting audits and ensuring high standards of person-centred care for every resident.
