Job summary

Aurem Care Shared Services Limited is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our kitchen team, delivering nutritious, delicious meals and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will engage with residents, understand preferences and assist with menu planning while supervising kitchen staff and managing stock control.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience in care, healthcare, hospitality or catering.
• Knowledge of nutritional requirements and special diets.
• Stock control, ordering and food management procedures.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
• Ability to engage with residents and support positive dining experiences.
• Food Hygiene qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Supervise and support kitchen assistants and trainees.
• Prepare and cook nutritious meals to a high standard.
• Prepare special dietary meals according to care plans.
• Ensure excellent service at all meal times.
• Maintain HACCP documentation accurately.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.
• Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control.
• Assist with menu planning and development.
• Report equipment faults or maintenance promptly.
• Manage stock rotation and assist with ordering.
• Undertake Head Chef responsibilities in their absence.
• Carry out other duties to support the home.
