Job summary

NHS Jobs is seeking a Maintenance Operative in Lichfield to keep the building and grounds well maintained and fully functional. The role covers a range of routine tasks, basic repairs, and on-call duties to support the care home environment.

Applicants should have at least one year of maintenance experience or a trade qualification, a valid driving licence, and solid knowledge of health and safety practices. DBS checks and UK work eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year's experience in a general maintenance or handyman role or holding a professional trade qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety practices including Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
• Ability to be adaptable and cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs (electrical, plumbing, joinery, building) inside and outside the home.
• Support new residents with room setup and adjustments.
• Ensure routine redecoration to maintain standards in the home.
• Advise on supplies and reliable sourcing of replacement goods.
• Provide out-of-hours emergency cover and participate in on-call rota.
