Job summary

Harbour Healthcare Limited is recruiting a Maintenance Officer for Granby Rose Care Home, Highgate Park, Harrogate. This full-time 40h/week role covers day-to-day maintenance of the fabric, services and grounds to keep the centre safe and functional. On-call duties apply for emergencies.

Ideal candidates will have general maintenance knowledge, good communication skills, a clean driving licence and be a confident team player. A car may be required for site travel.

Qualifications

• General maintenance knowledge / experience e.g. minor electrical, plumbing, joinery work.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Clean driving licence and use of a car or similar vehicle.
• Willingness to receive training on Health & Safety / EHO issues.
• Satisfactory Police check and POVA list check where applicable.
• Understanding of central heating systems, laundry and water systems (desirable).
• Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Ensure ALL legal documentation is completed on time.
• Report and action defects to appliances, furniture and hazards to the Home Manager.
• Maintain the exterior of the Care Centre and its gardens.
• Test fire alarm system weekly; log results and check safety devices.
• Test ventilation, lighting and portable appliances; record temperatures.
• Maintain a Maintenance Book and assist with deliveries to the Care Centre.
• Liaise with Home Manager regarding maintenance work and attend staff meetings.
• Attend mandatory training days and maintain professional knowledge.
