Job summary

Harbour Healthcare Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Officer in the Consett area. The role is full-time, permanent, with a fixed hourly rate of £13.78. You will maintain the Care Centre’s interior and exterior, attend to safety systems, and assist with deliveries.

The position requires a clean driving licence, a Police check/POVA where applicable, and willingness to train on Health & Safety issues. You will report to the Home Manager and participate in meetings, with opportunities for training and

Qualifications

• General maintenance knowledge including minor electrical, plumbing or joinery work.
• Willingness to receive training on Health & Safety / EHO issues.
• Understand central heating, laundry equipment and hot/cold water systems.
• Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations; good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all required legal documentation is completed on time.
• Report defects to appliances, damaged furniture and hazards to the Home Manager.
• Maintain exterior areas, gardens, sheds, drive and waste areas.
• Test fire alarm system weekly and record results; check exits and call points.
• Test portable appliances and water temperatures as per procedures.
• Maintain a Maintenance Book and oversee deliveries to the Care Centre.
• Liaise with Home Manager about maintenance work; attend meetings as required.
• Attend mandatory training days and keep professional knowledge up to date.
