MHA at The Fairways care home in Chippenham is seeking a reliable Laundry Assistant to ensure residents’ clothing, bedding and linen are cleaned to a high standard while respecting dignity and privacy. The role supports wellbeing and a comfortable home environment; you will work 37.5 hours per week on site, with a competitive hourly rate and a range of benefits, training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous laundry experience is desirable.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and prioritise tasks.
• Positive, flexible approach to work.
• Sensitivity to the needs of older people, commitment to quality service.
• Willingness to undertake training and development.
• QCF Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care is desirable but not essential.

Responsabilités

• Operate laundry equipment safely according to training and manufacturer guidance.
• Sort, wash, dry and iron residents’ clothing, bedding and linen following care labels.
• Safely manage infected laundry; prevent cross-contamination in line with infection control procedures.
• Distribute clean laundry to residents’ rooms and linen cupboards.
• Carry out basic mending and identify items needing dry cleaning.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the laundry area and ensure equipment is clean and well maintained.
• Follow COSHH, manual handling, health & safety and infection prevention requirements at all times.
• Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and choice.
• Attend training, supervision, appraisals and staff meetings.
