Job summary

Bridgend County Borough Council is seeking a dedicated kitchen assistant for Bryn y Cae residential services for older people in Wales. You will join the in-house kitchen team to cook meals, manage stock, and maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety.

You will follow HACCP and COSHH, assist with menu planning, and ensure records and documentation are kept up to date. Weekend shifts and some bank holidays may apply; Welsh language skills are required.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS clearance for adults.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and cook allocated dishes to meet quality standards.
• Assist in menu planning and adapt menus for dietary needs.
• Maintain stock levels and place orders; input orders from clerical staff.
• Comply with Health and Safety, HACCP and COSHH policies and maintain hygiene standards.
• Complete daily kitchen records and review HACCP annually.
• Supervise kitchen helpers and domestic staff, and train on equipment.
