Job summary

Aurem Care is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our kitchen team in the UK. You will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver nutritious, well-balanced meals and maintain food safety standards. You will engage with residents to understand preferences and contribute to a positive dining experience.

The role requires cooking experience in care, healthcare, hospitality, or catering, with knowledge of diets and stock control. Part-time hours start around 7:00am/8:00am and include weekend work.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience, ideally in care, healthcare, hospitality, or catering.
• Knowledge of nutritional requirements and special diets.
• Proficient with stock control, ordering, and food management procedures.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Supervise and support kitchen assistants and trainees, identifying training needs.
• Prepare and cook nutritious meals to a high standard.
• Prepare special dietary meals per residents' care plans and nutritional requirements.
• Ensure excellent service delivery at all meal times.
• Complete and maintain HACCP documentation accurately.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control.
• Assist with menu planning and development.
• Report equipment faults or maintenance issues promptly.
• Manage stock rotation and assist with ordering and stock control.
• Undertake responsibilities of Head Chef in their absence.
• Carry out any duties to support smooth running of the home.
