Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd is looking for experienced Care Home Chefs to work across Birmingham and surrounding areas on flexible assignments. You’ll prepare fresh, nutritious meals for residents, catering for a range of dietary needs in a high-volume setting.

Opportunities include temporary and relief chef roles with weekly pay and immediate starts. Prior care home or healthcare catering experience is highly valued, with DBS clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS required.
• Experience as Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, Head Chef, Chef or Cook.
• Experience in care homes, healthcare, education, hospitality or other high-volume catering environments.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.
• Experience preparing meals for larger groups.
• Understanding of nutritional requirements of older people.
• Experience catering for specialist dietary needs and allergies.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
• Flexible and reliable approach to temporary and agency work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
• Cater for a range of dietary needs, including allergies, diabetic diets, vegetarian, vegan and texture-modified meals.
• Ensure meals are well presented and tailored to residents' preferences.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Complete daily food safety checks, including temperature monitoring and kitchen records.
• Follow HACCP procedures and food hygiene regulations.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely and correctly.
• Follow company policies relating to Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding.
• Adapt confidently to different kitchen teams and working environments.
