Job summary

PSR Solutions is seeking a Care Home Chef / Cook in Ecclefechan to provide nutritious meals for residents and run day-to-day kitchen operations to a high standard.

You will work 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 25.5 hours per week on a permanent contract, at £15.25 per hour (£20,221.50 per annum). Prior care home cooking experience and Basic Food Hygiene are desirable; PVG clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience in a care setting is desirable.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is required.
• City & Guilds catering qualification is desirable.
• Full eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship).

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals for residents.
• Cater for dietary requirements and preferences.
• Assist with menu planning to ensure nutritious, varied meals.
• Order and manage food supplies within budget.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety.
• Keep kitchen and prep areas clean and well maintained.
• Follow all food hygiene regulations.

Care Home Chef / Cook

Location: Ecclefechan

A well-established care home in the Ecclefechan area is looking for an experienced and motivated Chef / Cook to join their team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking for others and can take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, preparing nutritious, varied and appetising meals for residents.

Roles and responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals for residents
• Cater for individual dietary requirements, allergies and preferences
• Assist with menu planning to ensure meals are nutritious, varied and balanced
• Order and manage food supplies within budget
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety
• Keep the kitchen and food preparation areas clean, organised and well maintained
• Ensure all relevant food safety and hygiene regulations are followed

What we are looking for

• Previous experience working as a Chef or Cook
• Experience working in a care home or similar setting is desirable
• Experience of working independently and managing a kitchen
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Previous supervisory experience would be advantageous
• City & Guilds or other relevant catering qualification is desirable
• PVG membership or willingness to undergo the required checks
• Full eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship or visa switch available)
